Friday 23rd of June is Women in Engineering Day and the theme this year is ‘Empowering the Architects of tomorrow’.

At Specialist we feel it is so important to empower our team to reach their full potential. Tara and Ella are both valued members of our design team, they gave us their thoughts on empowering our youth of today:

Tara speaks about how she got into a career in Design: “My interest in design first began in school, completing A-Level Technology and Design which included woodwork, CAD, and CAM technologies. I went on to complete a degree in Product and Furniture Design which allowed me to continue to develop on the areas I valued in my Technology and Design course. I have always been fascinated in sustainable design and the entire manufacturing process of a product, which in turn helped me choose a career in the design industry.”

Ella speaks about her experience in the industry: “I recently graduated in Architecture and tried it in practice but found out it wasn’t for me. I joined Specialist Group as a Junior Design Technician this year and I didn’t realise until then that there are so many avenues you can go down with the world of design. There are no limits its just all about finding what areas you enjoy.”
