Metalwork & Glass Operative / Fabricator
Specialist Glass & Metal is a growing division within Specialist Group, delivering high-quality bespoke glass and metal solutions for commercial, residential and fit-out projects throughout the UK, with a strong presence in the London market.
Our work ranges from integrated metalwork within bespoke joinery packages to standalone architectural glass and metal installations, including partitions, screens, balustrades, mirrors, feature glazing, steelwork and specialist fabricated components.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for motivated individuals to join our team. Whether you’re an experienced fabricator capable of managing projects from drawings through to completion, or someone practical looking to build a long-term career in the glass and metal industry, we would like to hear from you.
The Role
The day-to-day work varies depending on experience and project requirements but may include:
* Preparing metalwork for powder coating and finishing
* Brushing, polishing and finishing aluminium, stainless steel and other metals
* Assisting with the fabrication and assembly of bespoke metalwork
* Preparing, handling and fitting glass components
* Installing glass into frames, doors, screens and bespoke joinery items
* Fitting metalwork and glazing systems to finished products
* Reading technical drawings and job sheets
* Measuring, marking out and preparing materials
* Using hand and power tools including chop saws, grinders, drills and specialist glazing tools
* Working to quality standards and project deadlines
* Assisting with workshop fabrication and site installation when required
* Maintaining safe handling practices when working with glass and metal products

* Be safety-conscious when working with glass, metal and machinery
Additional Skills That Would Be Beneficial
* Experience in metal fabrication, glazing or related trades
* Experience using workshop machinery and hand tools
* Ability to read technical drawings
* Experience fitting architectural glass, glazing systems or metalwork
* Experience working within joinery, fit-out or construction environments
* Ability to work independently and manage tasks from start to finish
* Forklift, MEWP or site-related certifications (advantageous but not essential)
