Queen’s University

Summary
Delivery at Pace
An award-winning university library delivered through high-volume joinery and live-campus coordination.
Specialist delivered joinery for the McClay Library at Queen’s University Belfast, following a detailed public procurement process with Queen’s Estates Department.
The project required delivery at scale within a two-month timeframe, with careful programming and coordination across a live university campus.
Power and data services were incorporated into furniture to meet student requirements, supporting a major academic facility with 2,000 reader places and capacity for 1.2 million volumes.
The library was awarded by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors for sustainable design. Specialist’s contribution required manufacturing capacity, delivery control and close coordination with the client team, helping create a high-performing learning environment built around student use, durability and long-term academic value.
