Bloomsbury Theatre

Summary
Acoustics that Perform
A university theatre refurbishment delivered with bespoke acoustic walnut wall panelling.
The £12m refurbishment of Bloomsbury Theatre at University College London was delivered within a busy university campus, making health, safety, delivery planning and considerate construction central to the joinery package.
Working with Overbury, Specialist delivered bespoke acoustic wall panelling engineered from solid American black walnut, helping revive the auditorium’s interior finishes while supporting the performance requirements of the space.
The project required careful planning around campus activity, access and programme. In cultural and education environments, finish, durability and acoustic performance must work together. Specialist’s joinery package helped restore a significant auditorium space with controlled detailing, material quality and practical delivery inside a live university setting.
