Due to continued growth, Specialist Group is seeking to recruit an experienced Design Manager to join our Contracts and Design Team.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage and lead the design of projects in line with the agreed programme.
- Produce a Drawing Release Schedule in sequence with the programme.
- Agree design milestones required to meet the client’s programme with the Project Director, reporting if and when milestones are at risk of not being met and the subsequent effects.
- Ensure all drawings are completed on time and to the required standard.
- Review and check all drawings for each project.
- Maintain a rolling ATC spreadsheet on each project in conjunction with the SJG Commercial Team, ensuring all variations are identified and documented in the agreed manner.
- Produce sample registers and action with Production for client approval.
- Ensure all technical submittals are completed and uploaded where necessary.
- Manage document control on each project, ensuring all parties are furnished with the most recent and relevant information.
- Distribute all project design meeting notes to the relevant parties for action.
- Ensure material requisitions are completed and uploaded in line with agreed programmes, helping the team to complete these where necessary.
- Attend site to carry out site surveys alongside the Project Director and ensure all site dimensions are adhered to on Construction Status drawings. This should always be at least a two-person task where possible.
- Collate all information needed for each Production Handover, including production drawings, material requisitions, sample sign-offs and/or technical submittals.
- Liaise with project-specific subcontractors to ensure SJG workshop drawing details are correctly coordinated, determine what information they require from SJG and provide it in a timely manner.
- Prepare weekly progress reports for the Design Director on a job-by-job basis and circulate these to the Project Director for review and comment where necessary.
- Prepare and issue weekly progress reports to clients, including a look-ahead plan advising of the information requirements the SJG Design Team needs to maintain the programme.
- Report any design changes that could have major cost or programme implications to the client, Project Director and Design Director.
- Troubleshoot material issues with Purchasing when necessary.
- Maintain constant communication and good relationships with client design and project teams. This may involve regular travel to sites for design meetings when required. SJG promotes video call technology and actively encourages its use; however, requirements will be determined by client expectations and agreed with the Design Director.
