Apprenticeships

Building skills, careers and the future of Specialist.

Specialist invests in early careers through structured apprenticeships, Higher Level Apprenticeships and hands-on learning shaped by real project experience.

Give young people the tools, support them properly and let them learn. That’s how they grow - and how the business moves forward.

Specialist Academy

Our Academy has been developing talent since 1988, creating a structured pathway into the business through hands on learning, technical development and mentoring from experienced colleagues.

Based at Specialist HQ, the Academy’s Thrive programme immerses apprentices in live working environments, from the workshop and manufacturing to design and project delivery. Along the way, they develop practical skills, understand the standards expected and gain first-hand experience of how complex interior projects are delivered.

It’s how we protect craft skills, strengthen capability and build long-term careers.

Higher Level Apprenticeships

Higher Level Apprenticeships provide another pathway into the world of work, combining university study with practical workplace experience and professional development.

Designed for those pursuing careers in areas such as design, surveying, estimating, project management and business operations, apprentices apply their learning in a real working environment while continuing their academic studies.

Supported by experienced colleagues throughout their degree, they develop technical knowledge, practical experience and the confidence to build long-term careers with Specialist.

Careers That Grow

Apprenticeships at Specialist are just the beginning.

Over time, people progress into a range of different roles. Many of the people leading our teams today began their careers through apprenticeships or other early career pathways, developing their skills through experience and growing with the business.

Developing talent from within strengthens our capability, protects the standards we’re known for and ensures knowledge is passed from one generation to the next.
